Unfortunately, it is not as simple as the commercials make it on finding free money for almost anything from the government. Either it has an income limit or have to be a nonprofit or government entity to receive the free money. I will list some actual federal government websites (websites ending in .gov) that should help better clarify things, but I will also leave a link which has a long questionaire to see if you qualify for any help.

P.S. In six months, she should start looking for places to consolidate her student loans. It can decrease both the interest rates and payments. It can make it easier to repay her student loans.

There is a program that works with local grocery stores. You register your grocery card with their website and a portion of all the purchases go to paying for college.

If your fiance is attending college she could apply for loans, grants, or scholarships. The loans are not repayable until she finishes college and then the payments are low (around $50 a month) and over a period of years. I've taken out loans and received grants each semester and I usually have $2000-3000 left over each semester after tuition and books. She should talk to the financial aid office. As for grants from the US government that are not college related, those are hard to get and must be for a particular purpose (start-up business, etc). They don't usually like to hand out money for fun. Even if you had a legitimate business, you would have to write a grant proposal and that gets complicated. Usually you have to purchase a book that teaches you how to write the grant and it cost a lot. College loans would be a better route.
