    Good question. Probably difficult to get hard numbers on total funding from the Fed. If you’re talking strictly grant money, it may be a little easier as I would think it has to be properly accounted for.
    A quick search revealed NIH funding info:

    A good guess could probably be made based on the what the Pharm. Industry has put into lobbying and the FDA.

    You can get how much the pharmaceutical companies have received from the US government in grants from the Federal Assistance Award Data System

    The U.S. Census Bureau compiles FAADS every fiscal quarter based on submissions of monetary assistance award records by federal agencies. These quarterly releases are available as compressed flat data files on the Census website and on CD-ROM. It will take several hours of digging as you want data for 26 years, but you can get the data from FAADS.
